What's New at OCPL

Welcome to the OCPl Teen Talk Blog! This blog has been inactive for awhile so it is time for some updates. The OCPL Card Catalog has a new look. We went "live" with our new computer system almost a month ago. Check it out if you haven't had the opportunity. There are lots of new features available for "at home" users. You are now able to renew items, reserve items, and receive e-mail notifications. You will need to contact the library to update your patron information to include your e-mail address. We can also help you get started with all the features available.
Summer Reading is just around the corner. Registration will begin on June 6 for the YA Program "You Are Here". You will be able to choose whether you want to keep track of the time you read or if you want to keep track of what titles you are reading. Don't forget that reading materials can include manga, magazines, newspapers, and listening to audio books. Weekly prize drawings will be held as well.
We are constantly receiving new YA titles. The new YA books are located on a cart near the adult new books. Can't find what you are looking for? Let us know and maybe we can order it and add it to the collection.

We've recently added several new Manga series to our YA collection.
Come in and check them out. New series include Inu Baka, Dragon Knights, Chibi Vampire,
XXX Holic, Fruits Basket, and Absolute Boyfriend.

Next Good Book and Online Book Clubs

Did you know that the Ohio County Public Library website has two new features to help you find new materials to read?
The Next Good Book can help you keep track of the books you have read by creating an online bookshelf. You can also see what other people are reading and share your comments about books you have read.
The Ohio County Public Library Online Book Club allows you to select a book by chosing a genre (fiction, non-fiction, teen, romance, science fiction, thriller, etc.). Once you have made your selection, you will receive a 5 minute selection of a book delivered to your e-mail account Monday through Friday. By Friday, you will have read the first chapter or two from the book. If you want to read more, just stop in the library and check it out.
Can't find the book you want? stop by our Reference Desk and our knowledgeable staff can help. Our staff is trained to help you find a book that fits your interests. If we don't have the title you want, we can Interlibrary Loan the title or even order it! When it arrives, we will hold it for you and call to let you know you can pick it up. If the book you want is already checked out, we will reserve it for you. When it becomes available, we'll call and let you know.

Manga Collection

Did you know that the Ohio County Public Library has over 500 Manga titles?
Our Manga collection is located behind the Circulation Desk next to our music CD collection. The Sandman, Full Metal Panic, V.B. Rose, Vampire Knight, Hellboy, Forgotten Realms, Inu Yasha and Ranma 1/2 are just a few of the titles you can check out. We have recently received One Pound Gospel, Enchanter, and Kitchen Princess. These titles are located with the new books.
